Jurassic Park at Bologna Mineral Show
Spectacular exhibition of bavarian paleontological findings, to give to visitors all of the charm of the great scientific discoveries recently made in Germany

41th edition of Bologna Mineral Show, the most important italian show market dedicated to mineralogy and paleontology, is going to take many people’s breath away. The exhibition is going to get back contemporaneously with the 7th edition of Bijoux Expo, showroom dedicated to jewelry, since March 26 to 28 at the Futurshow Station palace of Casalecchio di Reno (BO) Italy. The bolognese date, infact, will be the occasion to display several fossil findings of extraordinary scientific value, which will include all of the fossil fauna and flora ever known up now.

Among the not to be missed specimens stands the enormous crocodile skull, the Ctenocha (flying reptile) skull , a complete shark, a Pleurosaurus (marine reptile) and a turtle. The show will be equipped by several placards which will give many informations about the quarry where the specimens have been found and about the results of the ongoing scientific research. The findings, infact, come from the Fossil-Visitor-Quarry Mühlheim – the fossil quarry of Mühlheim – located in Baviera near to the small town of Mörnsheim-Mühlheim and few kilometers far from Solnhofen, city famous because of its amazing fossil heritage. Opened for visitors in 2008, the quarry is characterized by a layer of great scientific significance. Let’s just think, infact, about the recent discovery in the quarry, of Mörnsheim formation, of the 8 th Archaeopterix sample, a fossil usually belonging to the antecedent Solnhofen formation and whose presence gives ample motive to research. For this purpose the excavation site has been expanded for about 4000 sqm and, among the fossils recovered, there are also the ones composed of apatite and calcite, characterized by a singular fluorescence effect under ultraviolet rays.

The Mühlheim Quarry, hosted through its findings at Bologna Mineral Show, has become a study center for the international scientific research with a strong approach to didactis. Shark fossils, coelacanths, flying reptiles, sphenodons, crocodiles and turtles will be displayed at the bolognese date, unique extraordinary stage of this original and precious exhibition.

A great cultural moment, of education and fun for fanciers and for the younger ones, but, above all, a great opportunity for professionals in the field for finding a space where paleonthology is the real protagonist.
